It's been a while, but for me, I would try to drive at night instead of during the heat of the day, and I would use foam earplugs against the incessant noise of the open windows/vent wings (and engine etc.). In the desert, where it's arid, a spray bottle of water is great -- just squirt yourself to cool down. -Greg
