[T3] Mega Questions

Sorry, I was not clear.
Not expecting it to run cooler but would expect a 1600 to run cooler than a 1915 in one of these without added oil coolers etc.

As far as the increase in power I am not expecting much if any but am expecting better performance over the worn out weber carbs that are currently on it.
I received this 72SB not running and with a set of VERY used carbs on it and as some are fans of carbs I am not and prefer fuel injection of the more modern kind.
I do know that if you manage the fuel air better you will see some increase in power and drivability. The carbs on mine are definitely no doing that well at all.

I do respect the factory FI its an amazing bit of engineering and far ahead of its time. But since mine was missing all of it I feel ok in moving to something a bit more modern but still utilizing some of the older components. I love to tinker and this is a great opportunity for me to get some tinkering on.

Well im afraid that you cant increase the HP any by adding megasquirt to a stock engine, its going to be a huge waste of money over using the stock D jet. Not sure why you would think it would run cooler too? These engines need a very specific mixture, too lean and they run too hot, too rich and they dilute their oil.

Now with the 1915... THEN you can taylor the mixture more easily than using stock D jet, but even Djet can be adjusted if you really understand how it works and instrument it.

If your stock 1600 isnt running right, start with getting the Djet working properly, there is a lot of expertise here to help with that. You might really like it!

Right now is stock 1600
Down the road not sure depends on how this feels after this mod.
I have a 1915 I built for my bug but its not a type3 case wise and I love
how it feels in the bug.
So if the 1600 needs help down the read I will help it ;-)
Part of me wants to see how good I can get the 1600 to run and feel power
wise first.
Aside from that fact it will run cooler than anything I upgrade too with out
having to add all them extra cooling devices ;-)

Subject: [T3] Mega Questions

I have begun again to do my research on building a MegaSquirt controlled
factory looking type 3 EFI system for my 72 SB.
I am using MAX's site and some of my own schooling to go through the
development but have a few questions for the factory FI experts around here.

Question 1: If using the stock injectors what is the optimum fuel pressure
required to maintain the best spray pattern for these injectors?
Question 2: if I was to say use the original under dash really systems that
controlled the power of the original FI brain etc. how hard are the
components to come by? Or should I just invest in the system offered by:
http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/megasquirt-relay-board-assembled-unit-p-3
2.html

I am sure as I progress through the process I will have more questions but
for now I am just getting a list of components together and gathering
information so that I can spec the correct parts. I have the basics of the
factory FI system that were provided by Mike Fisher and I realize I will
probably need to purchase some new injectors from Jim Adney as I understand
that the ones I have are probably failed from sitting dry. But for now any
and all input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much,
