It would certainly be interesting, but it's bound to be primitive,
although not as primitive as the ones intrinsic to carbs. Bosch was
limited to the analog computer technology of the time, so the mapping
had to be simple. With today's logic, it's possible to program in n
dimensions with impunity.
The really interesting question would be whether an "ideal" profile
exists for our engines. In my mind, "ideal" would mean max power when
you asked for it, up to the point where things started to get too
hot, but max economy (and min emissions) otherwise.
