The correct Type 3 FI intake port gasket is phenolic, about 3/16" 
thick. They originally came with thin paper gaskets glued to both 
sides. I reuse them and scrape off the old paper and use new or make 
paper gaskets on both sides.  

The metal gasket is used alone on dual port beetles only. You'll 
notice that it has an extra hole in it, which is for an alignment pin 
which only the beetle heads had.

You need the correct gasket in order to get the intake runners to the 
right height. That helps them align best with the IAD.
