Since the European regulations require the addition of a certain amount of
bio-fuel, I understand German fuel companies are now paying a 'fine' for not
providing it. Ultimately it's the motorist who pays, even if the regulation
was a bad idea.

I suspect our Type 3s would even run on Vodka - but that's taxed here even
higher than petrol (gas).
Modern higher performance engines have electronics that allow for the fuel
quality.

Flex Fuel was a term used to note that a vehicle was able to run E10/E20 or
E85 it was not to note a type of fuel.
Been running at least an E10 in my cars for years and have never had any
problems. I have 74 standard Bug that beefed a bit and its done fine also.

E10 Introduction to Germany 2011. Pretty much without warning, maybe a month
in advance. It was a giant fail. The Germans refused to buy it. #1 question
was "can it harm my Engine"? Answer was no. Big controversy...Germans are
cautious when it comes to there cars. So its gone. But there was no mention
of this flex fuel here that you talk about. I find that odd. Steve.
