I used some form of clear silicone to seal mine over 25 years ago and they
haven't leaked since! In my case, the seals were leaking from cracks and
shrinking.

Be sure to seal both sides of the exterior of the seal.

I lifted up the seal edge to apply sealant underneath, then wiped off the
excess.

I also applied it to the surface of the seal as it was very dried out and
cracked. Now that it's a couple of decades later, the stuff I applied to the
surface has dried up and turned white and is peeling.
