Yea, it may not just be the CR, it may be the piston design.  That engine
sure did pull well on the low end.  These Pistons used to, maybe still do
sell real well, not sure why folks really wanted them so much with the
issues but... ???

One of the issues with a domed piston could be that it inhibits the path of
the flame travel from one side of the chamber to the other.  This is just a
theory.
