The fully AT was never used with the beetle. They got the Auto Stick 
Shift. Is that what you're looking for?

If you're hoping to bolt a Beetle engine into an AT Type 3, then this 
should not be hard as long as you use the Type 3 flex plate, but you 
will need to supply some sort of rear mount for the engine, because 
beetle engines never had them. 

You should also know that this is a really bad idea. It will have 
very poor cooling and won't last long.
