My '72 FI has the heads without breathers but it has the two caps on the
breather box. We didn't get the recirculation valve though in the UK, so it
may depend on what he's allowed to leave off as far as the desmogging law
permits.

I'm assuming that he has the intake portion of his '72 system intact.
If I'm wrong about that, then this changes everything.
Or, IF he used the earlier style breather box with the single plastic plug.
