Unfortunately, no.  Right thru the block between the side and the#1
cylinder.  Sad really, only 166Kmi on this engine and these usually last
many hundreds of thousands of miles.

Yes, this is one of the clear advantages of air cooled cars. Are you 
sure the rust-thru wasn't thru a "freeze" plug. That would be the 
most common place, AND the easiest to fix.
