[T3] Wire Question

Could the Black be like the AC wiring where Black is the hot wire and white is common?
Now the brown wire as a ground is interesting unless its to distinguish that it's a isolated ground just for a certain device
like the casing of the Generator where it runs all the way to the regulator mounting.

The brown catches people out in the UK too - it's used for the live mains wire! 

When I bought my Variant, the flashers didn't work - someone had blown up the hazard flasher switch by connecting the brown wire to the + side of the flasher bulb!

Be careful with black wires in your VW, it's used for +12V on VWs.  I've never understood why.

I can't either Dave.  In my line of work who works on a lot of different makes of vehicles.  I have to remind myself of this when I work on my first love old Volkswagens or you will let out some magic smoke.  Once you let that magic smoke out on some stuff you can't put it back in.
