Was only going to do fuel. But ended up heading down the spark route and may eventually go down the trigger wheel setup also.
The battery side is a good idea but I did not see that there was enough room there and never thought about above the trans. 
I had this MSD in my bug under the rear seat for a few years when I lived in Arizona it saw many a hot summer there and never had any issues.

Just a couple of questions. Couldn't the MegaSquirt box been located  where you put the MSD box? And the MSD box been located somewhere else, like next to the battery or the engine compartment, or even above the  transaxle?  
Just asking, as I know the MSD box likes to have some cool  air flow around it. This would have kept all the wiring away from foot  traffic. Or were you trying to keep it close for you coil drivers? Is this  going to be a fuel only version? Or is it going to control both fuel and  spark? Just asking.
