I have to reach from behind to set it. This is because the distance  
between the minute hand and the clock "glass" face is very tight. Too tight to  be 
able to add the part that would catch the minute hand. Add in that the  
clock kits are set up for a second hand, and it makes adding the "catch" piece  
more difficult.
 
However, with a fresh battery, you only have to "re-set" the time  twice a 
year (spring a head, and fall back), so it's not really that big a  deal. 
;-) Now IF you were in an area where you have a time change (lived close  to 2 
time zones), then it might be a problem.
