Bob, that is my concern too! I thought the ReadyBrake was a bit over $100 but actually about $350. But, I would have it any time I needed it or if someone needed it, I have no problem loaning it. That is why I like this community: we help each other, like John did looking up the U-Haul information and you replying with information. I know I can be annoying, so... Anyway, then up to me to mess things up. 

What I also have run into is their computer not having the information. If it is not there, then too bad! Mercedes of U.S.A. doesn't recommend towing, though Germany gives the specifications!

In the end, might all come out in a wash. I would imagine the tow bar is about $100, then you need lights at $50, plus wiring, plus time,... With this, the Squareback becomes a trailer with brakes!

That is a concern! Another reason for having trailer brakes. In all reality, this ReadyBrake could be made to work for any auto. I could even tow another Mercedes home! l.o.l.
