Never gone as far as replaying caps but I have a basement full of stuff that is at least as old if not older still running and serving up stuff.  I guess keeping old things running is in the blood of VW owners.

Yes, not much $ investment; just some time and effort. It's only worth it because the PCs we have work really well for us, and this option keeps more stuff out of the waste stream.

It's not that much different from keeping an old car going.
