[T3] Wire Question

OK then that makes more sense now. 
Good thing the black was not connected to anything on the other end. 
I will need to run a new wire to the regulator good thing I have a good brown one to work with now.
Tomorrow will be spent fishing new wires anyhow.

Brown is always ground (looks like dirt, right?) on VWs, so the brown wire runs from the case of the generator to the case of the voltage regulator. That's just to insure that both of those grounds are the same.

The black wire was part of the VW Computer Diagnosis harness. It would have gone to the D+ terminal on the generator.
