[T3] Bump stops

Came across an oddity with my type 3. I recently replaced the rear shocks and noticed that the bump stops were very broken. I ordered a set of replacements for an IRS type 3 but found they were half of the size and the hole was way too small to fit on the bracket. After searching countless websites I determine that the part I had bought should be correct for the car. On looking up the part number of my existing stops it seems they are off a T2 bus and the brackets therefore must be from the same? I wondered if any one else had come across this ( mine is Aussie assembled) , whether there was a good reason for this replacement or if it was just a bodge by the previous owner?
