[T3] crank case ventilation ???

I did the hose connections on the T4 engine over the weekend, its
interesting that in 73 and 4 they were still using the D version of our Djet
And still using vacuum retard. Interesting that in 74 the Throttle bodys
only had a nipple for the retard on the can and left the vacuum advance part
of the can attached to a "hose to nowhere" from the factory.

The retard nipple is right under and just inside the idle position of the
throttle valve, while the advance nipple is just on the air cleaner side of
the valve (if equipt) so it only gets advance under light throttle.

Unfortunately, the Throttle body Im using is a 45mm without the advance
nipple, so I cant run any vacuum advance, but do I really want to use just
the retard? I need any extra gas mileage I can get, should I try to find a
45mm throttle body with an advance nipple?

Hmmm....

Keith

Glad Dave was able to send you a PDF. The '72 is certainly the worst
year for this. One thing you can simplify for that year is to omit
the solenoid valve that enables the vac advance in 4th gear only. The
car will run and tune up just fine with the vac adv hose connected
directly to the IAD. Note that you will have to have a '72-only IAD
to connect the vac retard. That part is essential, unless you want to
"upgrade" to the '73 configuration, which does not have the vac
retard. (FI engines came with vac retard only in '72.)

Sorry, I knew there was something I kept forgetting. I'll try to
remember to look for the parts tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I have them;
I just have to measure them and make sure they're right for your car.
Yes, I'm sure I still have your old message with the lengths.
