[T3] Keep FI or go Carb?

Actually, on a type 3 engine, 1776 is about the limit. Anything over that  
should go to carbs, or aftermarket FI.
The reason for this, is that the plenum (IAD) and runners are sized too  
small (restrictive) for anything above 1776. They are actually sized  
correctly for a 1600, and even slightly more, but 1776 IS the limit (runs out  of 
air).
If you go with a type 4, then you can go larger with D-jet, as it's  plenum 
and runners are sized for it (you'll still have to find the right  plenum 
though, as there are differences).
