[T3] Opposite of Terri's problem

They don’t fail unless they fall out. Look at the other one on the other
side, it should have a number on it, make sure the one you get is not only
the right kind (there are different kinds) but has the same number. If
there is no number then make sure the size of the hole for the jet is the
same on both sides, you don’t want one side running too rich or too lean or
you will have problems.

You may also have to increase the jet size or drill them out for the modern
gas, depending on where you live and what blend they are using.

I did.

It runs very poorly.  I had it towed to my house after the PO mentioned that
it had no accelleraton. That would be a good indication why.

The hunt is on. Found an old one for 9 bicks on fleabay and a new one there
as well for 50. Do these fail pretty easy or do they have good longevity?

That idle solenoid is also your idle jet, Im surprised it runs at all with
the idle jet removed.

That helps a lot Bob.
Thanks. I will check out those sources.

I took some photos of what is missing on my carbs with a mirror and indeed,
where the idle solenoid valve should be, there is a threaded hole. Makes me
wonder if it fell out or was simply not installed. If I were to be
inspecting it like it was an airplane, it looks to be that there was not one
there for a while. The threads are gunked up with grime. No evidence of
anything being installed there for a while. Probably one of the reasons they
couldn't get it to tune right. Plus, there is no mixture balancing hose
installed. Those ports are capped.

Fortunately for me, Kalifornia has their emissions laws in place for 1975
and on for testing. This car can do what it wants. I do need to find that
idle solenoid gizmo. The two boxes of randomness that came with the car did
not have one.
