[T3] Fender Question

Well, this fender has the finger indent.

The fenders on my 68 came to me with bullet signals. But the car was left for dead in a Salvation Army car-lot and many things were not as they should be.

I thought the '68s did have the wrap
round indicators even in the USA,
didn't they?  I thought it was the USA safety
 requirement for visibility
from the side introduced for '69 that made VW fit their '69s
 with the older
bullet (lower-spec) indicators, as they could be seen from
 the side (just
about!).  OTOH the parts book mentions flashing
 indicators with lateral
light diffusion for '68 models (M242), so I'm not sure
 now.  Jim has a '69
with bullet front indicators (I had to load up the Invasion
 2002 photos to
 check!).

I know the rest of the world stayed with the normal
 wrap-rounds until 1970
when the big ones came in, along with the longer front,
 bigger rear lights
 and other safety features.

Does the filler door have a finger hole - only needed when
 there isn't a
 release cable.

It looks original to the fender. Thanks!

Look on the backside, someone may
have converted the turn light but most
likely it came off a eurocar like a Notch, they had the
 wrap  arounds all
 the  way to 70.

So I just picked up a pair of from fenders from a 69.
 And  I'm a little
 stumped.

My car is a 68 and I was under the impression that the
 68  right front was
a  one year only configuration being the first year for
 the  external
fuel-filler and (I thought) the last year without a
 cable  release for the
 filler door.

This fender has the"68" filler door ... and a
 different  signal. European
 maybe?

I'm not that knowledgeable about the year-to-year changes.
