I agree and that's how I got into it, my first paint job was with a tiny
compressor, no tank, in the driveway.... and over the years Ive read up on
it, watched the experts (back when reality shows had SOME reality on them)
And just got out in the garage and went at it.

Now I hope Im "Tbird ready" as Ill be painting that in a couple years. I
pulled the engine and tranny out over the weekend and it felt like I was
extracting a complete Squareback from under that hood... Whew! They didn't
care much about weight back then did they? CAST IRON bellhousing weighs
almost as much as our entire Tranny!

I could put a hot tub in there now... I wonder how many aircooled engines
could fit?

:-)

That would be a cool T-bird with say a couple of T-4 engines in there lol.
I know about weight of old Ford engines. When I went from the 240 I-6 to
the 4.6 mod V-8 on my 67 F-100 I think I lost a little weight. Like you
said everything is cast iron. On the 4.6 the block is about the only thing
that is. Defiantly a lot different than our VWs. Now I'm pulled off in a
different direction as we just inherited a 65 Ford 4000 diesel tractor but
it's in good shape. Need to find a board like this for that thing.
