The rear wiper seized on my Golf today, by the time I could pull over and
help it back to the parked position that motor was pretty hot.

Sigh

Ive NEVER seen so much salt on the road this late, never seen salt on the
road at all this late. Gotta go to a Radio meet in PA in 2 weeks in the
Squareback but no significant rain in sight.... unfathomable to think of
salt on the roads here in MAY.... I may have to ditch the radio conference
Because the Golf will never make it running without a radiator cap.... still
need to fix the hole in the block, cant do that till im done with the
car...

Sigh!

Keith

Sounds a useful material, Ross - sure don't see any rusty sheep, even in the
UK. ;-)

I've heard of lanolin being worked into wire rope rigging to protect against
corrosion, so should do a good job to counteract Keith's salt in NY State.

Hello every one,

I use a Lanolin oil by a firm called "Lanotec" for lubricating anything that
moves on my Type 3 1966 fastback.

This lubricant is a by product of sheep's wool and is widely used in the
boating industry to not only lubricate but to stop the process of rust. The
oil is good for penetration and is friendly on plastics and rubber
components.

Not sure if its available in the States. It does however stick to painted
surfaces when dry so wipe off any excess.

I enjoyed the 6 mm wiper solution comments as my 66 Australian fastback
have these smaller shafts. Gives me some solace in the future repair and
replacement for my old girl!
