Hi all,

I am in San Francisco. We never dropped the engine out. Lloyd said he
needed a place to work, and he couldn't do it at his house anymore. So I
rented another garage, so he could work on the engine in my garage, and we
would store the body in the rented garage. Cost me $200. When I told him
I had the garage, he just flaked on me and said he was "Out of VWs." Ever
since he bought that Ford truck, he's been acting weird. He hasn't even
fixed The Bucket (his Bus)! I have no idea why. He's kept The Baroness
running for 15 years, and now he just leaves me at the alter. I feel like
the totally unsuspecting wife who wakes up one day to find out her husband
has left her...for another man.

So I still don't know for sure what's even wrong with The B..

Does anyone know anything about The BusLab in Berkeley or Lavere's?

And how much would it cost to take it to a shop and have the engine dropped
and opened?

I have had such bad experiences with shops that I am very reluctant to use
one.

Yes, I can do some of the simple things, like valves and oil changes,
adjusting carbs, etc., but dropping the engine and splitting the case is
way beyond my capabilities. I'm on disability, and my back is really
bad---I've already had one spinal surgery.
