[T3] mirrors...

I've done two "operations" on mirrors.

1.) With a partner helping, we used a straight slot screwdriver and a
hammer (don't get excited) to hold the s.s. mirror shell on edge on a
sturdy soft-wood board ... almost vertical ... and placing the screwdriver
blade, ... also almost vertical, ... tapped the edge of the (wide-end) of
the stainless steel shell to ease the metal away from the glass.

It takes patience and a steady hand to work the metal away from the glass.
But eventually, you can bend the metal sufficiently to remove the
de-silvered piece glass. Then, it's just a matter of having a good glass
shop cut, grind and bevel the edge to the correct shape to slip in the new
glass.

I haven't tried to bend the deformed s.s. shell back toward the glass to
capture the new glass. I have no idea how the mirror supplied "captured"
the glass. By the marks, it looks like a press of some sort.
Ask your glass-man what adhesive they use to attach glass squares to walls
in household applications. Regular silicone will destroy the "silvering",
over time.

2.) Where the internal stub bolt, lock washer, special washer & nut secure
the arm to the s.s. shell, I've drilled, tapped and re-attached the
stainless shell to the arm, also. Making a jig to hold the
irregular-shaped arm in the proper position to drill the hole, took the
most time. The drilling and tapping was the easiest. I used a standard
tap followed by a bottom tap.
Careful is the byword.

I'm by no means an expert, but even one-handed (with help), my method has
worked for me.
