Checking the web, it appears to be a one-year part. however, the main
change seems to be the plastic wiring guide. Does anyone know if the other
parts are interchangeable with other years, or even with a Bug part?
Cannibalizing a new unit and the ’71-unique parts may be another path to a “like
new” working unit.

Phil, I've used the turn signal half of a 72 and later unit to do repairs
(replacement) on both 70 and 71's (both 1 year only parts). :O The key is
re-using the 70 or 71 "crush tubes" for the turn signal, as the 72 and
later tubes are too long (they have to pass thru the wiper switch). This might
open a couple of options for you. ;-)
