That was just a suggestion to check all the standard things first,
largely because people tend to jump to the most extreme possibilities
first.

If it really runs perfectly for a short time, and since your FP was
just rebuilt for some reason, my first guess would be that the reason
your FP got rebuilt was because there was water or dirt in the gas
tank. This leads me to wonder if there's still water and/or dirt in
there, and that this continues to be a problem.

One easy thing to try first would be to connect a temporary jumper
wire across the fuel pump relay (red wire to red wire) giving power
to the pump full time. If the car now runs fine, the relay is the
problem. I have good relays if you need one. If this makes no
difference, move on.

Here's what you should do next: Disconnect the inlet hose from the
FP. You should get a pencil sized (scary amount) of gas coming out of
the hose. Catch a quart of this in a glass container so you can
examine it later.

If you just get a dribble of gas out, the filter and/or the screen is
clogged, keeping gas from getting to the pump. If this is the case,
disconnect the hose from the inlet to the filter. If you now get a
full stream, the problem is in the filter. If you still just get a
trickle, the screen in the bottom of the tank is (also?) clogged.

Inspect the gas in the container for water at the bottom. If there's
water there, drain the tank and pour just the gas back in.

Note that water will stop up the filter all by itself. It soaks into
the paper filter and won't let gas thru. Filters that have become
waterlogged, can be dried out and reused, but the drying takes a long
time. It can probably be sped up by flushing with alcohol and then
drying.

If you find water in the tank, you probably need to install my
overflow hose kit to keep water and dirt from getting in.
