Don't you have tandem MCs with 2 switches, one in each circuit? 
Without the brake warning light, they'd only need to be the 2 pin 
switches, but the parts list still seems to indicate 2 switches for 
all cars with tandem MCs.

It may be that the 2-pin switches are more reliable.
