[T3] fuel gauge and gauge light fluctuating

Thanks again Jim. In looking at Bentley (which I should have done much
earlier. duh.my T3 has been running so well for the past 8-9 years I am
rusty ;) I see that the later model gauges had springs that were 5mm shorter
to accommodate the thicker dash. thus I would have needed to eliminate 5mm
of material from the pad, or put on short clips. I won't hazard a guess as
to why the '71 fuel gauge and my original '68 both have the same length
clips (the long ones) and instead just put on the later model lamp base with
the #31 ground. As for that one seemingly missing connector tab I was
wondering about, in tracing the wires (as Bentley doesn't depict the back
side of the lamp base with the tabs) I can see that this is the left turn
signal bulb, connected by a soldered wire inside the face to the right bulb,
which has the connector. 

 

My work is cut out for me.
