Not yet!  I didn't realise it was over here either.  Funny thing, a '64
Notch in Sea Blue (I think) went the other way to California this year - I'm
half expecting to see it at the invasion!

I'll see if I can get in touch with whoever's got it.  The KG owners club
would probably know.

Which isn't saying much, unfortunately.  I've  never owned a fancy modern
3-prong car, but I've had tons of trouble with  failing 2-prong brake light
switches in my VWs (no DOT 5 involved) over the  last decade.
Everything seems to be junk.  I just try to think of  brake light switches
as wear items and hope that whatever one doesn't take  a ridiculous amount
of pressure to engage.

This is a good moment to  appreciate the fact that we're not trying to find
usable screw terminal  brake light switches.  We've got it  easy.

If this is the case, then you might want to look into going with a
"non-stock"solution like John J. did.
I believe someone (a company) is selling a kit that moves the brake  light
switch to inside the car, and eliminates the hydraulic switches  altogether.

They advertise in the Samba classifieds, along with Hot VWs  magazine. I
think Hot VWs even did an article on installing it.
 
That said, I've been using Standard brand brake switches on my VWs  for the
last 15 years. Granted most of the have been with DoT 3 brake fluid. But my
T-34 (that got rebuilt in 2010, got DoT 5, as did my 71 Notch. Both have

since been sold, but neither purchaser has complained of a switch going bad,

and  I ran the 71 from 2008 to 2011 without an issue, and the T-34 got over
3K miles  on it before I sold it last fall (it went to the UK, and they MOT
them  there).
 
I do however agree with you that quite a few parts being sold these  days
are crap. I replaced 2 switches for a buddy of mine on his 69 Square, and 1

of the 2 leaked out the bakelite end. I took it back and it was replaced
free of  charge (although he had to order another 1 up). I've even got junk
from ISP, so  it's not just limited to local people or companies. :O
