The photos aren't particularly clear, but they look like there may be 
some metal shavings in there. It would be useful to know if the 
shavings were steel or alum (magnetic or not.) In general, bits that 
big, that look like shavings that come from some sort of machining 
process, are probably not wear particles, but leftovers from machine 
work that was not cleaned out particularly well before the previous 
rebuild. Finding them in your sump, is not particularly troubling, 
but if there were others that were small enough to get thru the 
filter screen, they could become problems. If others were left behind 
in the oil galleys, those would also be problems.

If these are machining particles, it's the ones you DON'T find, that 
are troubling. If these are small wear bits, then, yes, they signify 
something you should worry about.

Do you feel like taking the engine apart, just to clean and inspect 
things? A "new" shortblock, may come with its own problems.
