[T3] fan rubbing something

First I have ever heard that and I have hung with some top drag racing engine builders when I lived in the south western U.S but then again you will hear many different things depending on who you talk with.
I was more curious about clearances than the volume since they tend to be a bit thicker.

Most builders have told me high volume
oil pumps are a major mistake. you dont NEED anything more than the stock volume and a high volume pump is higher in volume but lower in pressure, so you run out of pressure when the engine gets older.

Most aftermarket pumps have such poor quality control that they are a problem anyway.

Question on this more curiosity than anything.
Are the typ 3 able to handle the high volume oil pumps or any of the add on like the full flow oil filters etc?
Thought of this when the stud issue came up.

I have a few spare fan shims, because the engines I've taken apart always have 2, but I generally don't need any when I put them back together.

Bob's right to suggest looking for interference with the oil pump.
There's plenty of room for a stock oil pump, even the late 26 mm dished cam version, but the aftermarket 25 mm HD pumps stick out farther and will push the bottom of the fan housing outwards and cause problems. They can be made to work with careful clearancing, but there needs to be SOME clearance there.
