Okay, I just checked several single advance cans on a '72 dist body 
and found that a 505 ('73) can WILL fit, but neither (AT or MT) '71 
cans will fit without modification. That's interesting and useful 
information, since it appears that upgrading a '72 dist to '73 specs 
could be done by just using the '73 can.

Then it is a '73 MAP sensor. It lacks the VW number because it did 
not come thru the VW distribution network. It was bought from Bosch.

Oops! That's clearly not right. In my haste to copy and paste I 
forgot to change one digit. Thanks for catching that. See the revised 
numbers below.

Here's what the US got in '72 and '73:

1972 Type 3s

	Brain:
		VW 311 906 021 E / Bosch 0 280 000 028
	Pressure sensor:
		VW 311 906 051 E / Bosch 0 280 100 106
	Distributor:
		MT: VW 311 905 205 AE / Bosch 0 231 172 009 (dual vac can)
		AT: VW 311 905 205 AF / Bosch 0 231 172 011 (dual vac can)

1973 Type 3s

	Brain:
		VW 311 906 021 E / Bosch 0 280 000 048
	Pressure Sensor:
		VW 311 906 051 E / Bosch 0 280 100 116
	Distributor:
		MT: VW 311 905 205 AG / Bosch 0 231 163 027 (single vac can)
		AT: VW 311 905 205 AH / Bosch 0 231 163 029 (single vac can)
