There's the Museum of Northern Arizona in or near Flagstaff. It's
truly breathtaking if you have any interest in the Native Peoples of
north america.

This whole area is filled with Pueblos, past and present, that are
interesting. Pick one that seems close. Check out state parks as well
as National Parks and Monuments. If you think you will visit several
National Parks and Monuments, see if they'll let non-citizens buy a
Senior Citizen pass (also known as the Geezer Pass.) They cost $10,
never expire, and are good for 2 people at any National Park or
Monument in the US. Melissa and I each bought one, just because they
were so cheap, and we visit a lot of those places each time we drive
down into that area. (Not good for state parks.)

Flagstaff is an interesting town to just walk around. We had dinner
in one little brewpub there where I saw on the wall a framed
"Periodic Table of Beers." Looked so interesting I Googled it and
bought a couple, one for me and one for a friend who's really into
beer.

If you're willing to go farther south, to the SE side of Tucson,
visit the Pima Air and Space Museum (aircraft graveyard.) We talked
about this a few years ago. They've got everything from the X-15, to
a couple of Super Guppies, a Blackbird, and much, much more.

About an hour SE of Tucson is Karchner Cavern. I believe it's
supposed to be the largest cavern system in north america. They do
great tours, but admission is limited so you have to make
reservations in advance.

Doing the Pima museum and Karchner Cavern would take an entire day.

Our daughter loves Prescott but doesn't care much for Prescott
Valley. Pheonix is also not high on her list of interesting places.
