Other advice :-
Use Omega 636 " Jamaica Oil " Releasing Fluid when planning removal of the Silencer Box.
Beg, Borrow or Steal a good quality 46mm Open Ended Spanner. Do not bother with Hammers and Chisels, or any other dodgy methods.
I fitted a new Silencer to my '72 Type 3 in 1992. I used Copper Grease on the Threads when refitting.
There was no problem taking it all off in 2010 to change a broken Stud using a Timeserve Insert, fit 1 new main Heat Exchanger and repair the other one.
