Keith , this is a 71 SB I see in your list of cars? Is the engine basically
stock? If so the time frame before you had any issues is very close to when
Mine began to have issues give or take a few years because I just don't
recall exactly when mine needed the priming deal. If I were to guess 2013
only because in June 2012 it was in a body shop for the first time ever for
a month to fix mainly damage that wrecked the front bumper from a red light
runner . If it had that issue I would have brought it up. I don't recall how
long after that the issue began. I didn't drive it much then either, less
than 300 miles per year. It was a glancing blow on the right side front
bumper guard that didn't do great damage to anything other than the force on
that guard and the right bumper bracket mainly shifted the front body to the
left about 1/2" didn't bend anything else like the frame . Perhaps that blow
was enough to start the fuel pump to act up I have no idea the pump and all
else was never touched or the beam didn't even slide my car or move it to
the side it did affect the fuel gauge a bit yet I didn't make note of it ,
it just seemed to read a bit different and I checked everything and feel
it's the sending unit which always did to seem to jump when it got near 1/4
tank .
