Hi Sean!

Thank you for replying.  The compression concept makes sense.  New battery,
new starter.  Tested the charging system with these instructions:
http://www.vw-resource.com/generator.html .  All completely normal.

I will go through and ensure all connections are shined and wires are
intact.  Perhaps it is a few small problems along the wiring adding up to
one large one.


I should have run through the connections before sending my desperate plea,
sorry.
