In spite of what I wrote earlier, I really don't think your symptoms 
point to a starter problem. If you find that the starter doesn't keep 
going very long, it might be a battery problem.

Is it still possible to buy the correct 6 V batteries for our cars? 
They were something like a Group 6L. Anyone remember for sure?
