You would't be the first person to drive a non-Type 3 to an Invasion. We 
don't shame those folks TOO much, after all, it's better to be there than not 
to be there.

OTOH, you've still got quite a bit of time to get your Type 3 roadworthy.
Yeah, it can be scary, and you want the car to be REALLY ready, but a good 
push now will be REALLY worth it once you're there.

You don?t need to drive your Type 3 to attend the Invasion.  All Type 3 enthusiasts are welcome.  Only caveat is that we only let Type 3s park in the ?show? area.

Ah someone else with a '71 who lives in Bristol - though I'm near Bristol
UK! (or Bath to those who don't quite know where Bristol, UK is).

I don't think we'll make it to the USA this time - Anne's sorry she won't
get a chance to see Peg and Marion's new p(a)lace!  It certainly looked good
in the photos she saw last time.

Made some more updates and added some more Invaders to the website.  Up to 39 now...

I've not been charged, but the last visut was in  2011 when we celebrated 50 years of the Type 3. That was great as we assembled over 100 Type 3 s in the factory grounds, and had cruise around the site.  Thinking about it further, the factory tours go from inside Autostadt now, and you do have to pay for that.
Look on the website, and see. 
It's all good stuff, and the VW group pavilions are worth visiting. Lamborghini, Bentley, Skoda, Seat. They do day, 2day and 3day passes.  Check the website in case I'm behind the times as usual.
