[T3] I've got another question , same one I asked a while back.

Sorry for all the questions. Jim the area on the exhaust I need to fix IS the same area you spoke of . In order for me to be able to fit the sheet aluminum onto the HE pipe to build up it’s OD I have to remove the EMPI header , there is no way of fitting the aluminum in this gap without removing the header and the muffler which mounts to the header via a three bolt flange. The header fits to the HE pipes just like a stock setup . All I can think of is measuring the HE pipe OD and the header ID to come up with how thick I need the aluminum sheet . I may need more than one layer , then test fit the header then add the sealer . With the mesh doughnut and the metal ring for the clamp with the header flange on the header there is no room to get anything in there.

Try this:

Reconnect the temp sensor.

Unplug the throttle position switch (TPS.)

Try the exercise as above again. Is the RPM swing gone? If so, it may just
be the normal TPS contact pulsed enrichment. If that's all it is, you can
ignore it. If you want, I can send you my faq on testing your TPS and making
sure it's set correctly. Note that nothing you've indicated points to a
misadjusted TPS, but the '72-3 TPSs have a habit of wearing out, so it's
worth doing the test.

Muffler cement is more like plaster or Portland cement. It ignores heat. I
suspect that an exhaust connection can get too hot even for Silicones.
