My 71 has a sunroof, I havent had any problems with it and it doesnt leak,
but dont park nose up in a heavy rain storm! Car doesnt leak, thats
important if you want it to last.

Just make sure you don't have any clogged up sunroof drain tubes.
Making a sharp turn/hitting the brakes hard and getting water dumped on
your head is only funny the first couple times it happens.

...or severe rust in the rear inner fenders that causes water to spray
up and get your voltage regulator wet.

...or door seals that don't properly seal (ISP repros, for example) and
your car is a 1965 model or earlier (meaning it has seat backrest
release levers in the A pillar).

...or a rotten A pillar from rusted out sunroof drain tubes.

...or plugged up fresh air boxes/tubes + dried out seals at the cowl.

...in fact, just make sure you don't have a sunroof type 3. They seem
to rust out far worse than hard tops, parts are impossible to find or
expensive when available, and they just give you more to maintain. Bah,
sunroofs!

My sunroof '65 Variant has been just about the worst rain car
imaginable. Awful for Seattle, awful for the Florida Keys, where the
following video was taken: https://youtu.be/u75sweKLM8E

Is anyone who lives in a sunny dry climate looking to buy a rusty early
sunroof Variant?

Soren
