[T3] Sun Visor Clip Installation

'69 Square.
Age and heat have destroyed the fixed, inside, Sun Virsor Clips that mount
though the headliner into a metal attachment bar, of some kind.

On the back of each clip is a small, molded,  plastic "post"  that sup
posed to be pressed through the headiner and into an ~5mm hole in a metal
bar.

However the place where the post is located is inside the slot where the
round plastic stub on the the sun visor slides into.

I tried to push on the outside of the clip to snap the post into the hole.
But the clip has a little "retainer-like" protrusion on it to hold it in
place so the Phillips head screw can be screwed into the other end to
secure the clip.

Since the slot in the clip is not sturdy enough to push on, (I pushed as
hard as I dared, without breaking the plastic clip) I'm afraid the thin
plastic clip will crack or break, before the post can "seat" into the metal
mounting hole.

Next, I'm going to pick a drill bit with the correct shank size, to go into
the clip slot so I can push hard enough to get the post to seat in the
metal hole.

Other ideas??
