[T3] A Hint...

The way that I understand it, there are 3 sensors that are 'no-go', ie if they're not there and pretty close to right, it doesn't work.
The head temp sensor, the timing sensor (the extra set of points in the bottom of the distributor) and manifold pressure sensor (can't think of it's real name, it's the one to the left of the engine). I think that these are required for the computer to generate the basic waveforms necessary, the other sensors modify it for specific situations (wide open throttle, closed throttle, general engine temperature, etc.).
I wonder if, for the purposes of testing, the head temp sensor could be replaced with resistor of the appropriate value, just to see if the engine will run.
Perhaps Jim will have an insight to this?

an open head sensor can cause a no run
 condition, and hey can go
 intermittent internally.

Happened years ago on a trip.  Car
just wasn't right. Tidied up connections,
re-did points, cleaned this and that,
maybe put in new points, plugs,
etc.,...and it worked better for a
while.  Then back to not so great.
    THEN...after the trip, I thought
to just tidy up and re-tighten the Head
 Sensor. Bingo.  No probs.  Magic.
     Same thing happened recently for
a few weeks.  Did the usual clean
 connections and all that..but then
 remembered that Head Sensor.  Tightened
 it up and...again...bingo...on the road
 again.
     Apparently past temporary cures
were thanks to just accidentally bumping
that sensor, while fussing with other
 things, which got it sensing
 better...for a while.

So...just sayin'...be nice to your Head
 Sensor. Should be a Routine
 Maintenance thing.  If that's famous,
 never heard about it before.
