You're right. When I went downstairs to double-check, the first thing I
noticed was that the scale was calibrated in lbs. not ozs. I re-measured and
the "correct" 044 points came to a bit over 1.5 lbs. while the stiffer ones
measured just under 2.5 lbs. The stiff points also come with a small dab of
Bosch grease already installed next to the rubbing block.

While I'm on my soapbox, let me say that the MOST important thing you can
do for your distributor is to lubricate it. That means a drop of oil in the top of
the shaft, assuming it has mech advance, and then cleaning and regreasing
the cam.

The cams get rough and worn from the grit that gets caught in the old
grease. Once the cam is worn, the rubbing block on new points will wear out
quickly. To prevent this, it's VERY important that you clean the rubbing block
and the cam each time you open the distributor and add a very thin layer of
fresh, clean grease.

If you do this, your Bosch distributor will give you very long, reliable service.
