[T3] Stupid question #395 Oil change time?

 Jim, I imagine SAE 30 would have been fine I never used 30 in this engine
which doesn't mean anything. I was more concerned of how hot it does become
here. The way the traffic is here there is not a time when I can drive
above 45 MPH , even on a freeway you might get to 55 or 60 for a mile or 2
then it's stop and go. Just to get on a freeway I need to drive 6 miles
stop and go. I realize it's the starting that produces the most wear. I was
watching my oil temp and pressure gauges just glancing once I had driven 5
miles 2 days ago on this 20 mile round trip and noticed the temp climbed
more as I was at idle since there is not a lot of cooling air flowing plus
ambient temps rise from the heat off all the cars all around me. I fell for
the misconception that multi grade oil became thicker when it does not so I
can't say only assume that the 20W50 was in a sense lower than SAE 30. I
saw the same thing searching O'Reilly's site that they  have their own
brand and saw a video of one fellow talking about house brands are most
likely branded name brand oil which is probably the relation between
Autozone and STP which is close to half the price on any name brand oil
they sell. If it is in fact good oil then I have a easy choice to go to SAE
30 if needed. Fact is thinking about this I only recall using Castrol 20W50
twice and this was when Autozone stopped selling Castrol SAE 40 and STP is
a fairly new addition in Autozone's oil selection didn't see it on their
site until this year. Perhaps enough people wanted SAE 30 and 40 since they
took it away years ago. I'd much prefer walking into a FLAPS and purchase
than having it shipped. I have 3 quarts of Valvoline 10W40 haven't used it.
Felt it might not lube well enough  and from what I've read " Generally
it's better to stay away from the 10W-40s, as they have a higher content of
long-chain polymers to get the 40 rating from a thin base, and the polymers
are not lubricants themselves." I got this info from here.

 I don't know why autozone used the STP name , they used have an autozone
brand name oil and perhaps placing the STP brand made it more trustworthy
and as far as I know it very well may be the same autozone brand oil in a
paid for STP labeled bottle.
