[T3] When it comes to ZDDP & detergent.

I have both Valvoline VR1 SAE 40 and Valvoline conventional SAE 40 .
did call Valvoline a while back and was told the VR1 does have detergents
in it and could be mixed with the SAE 40 conventional since my
understanding is the VR1 has less detergent in the mix, even though I was
told they were both equal yet I have no way of knowing this.

Here is my question. Since I don't drive much per year, maybe 400 miles
and change it well before the 3,000 mile recommended mileage does the
amount of detergent even matter, does it become a mute point?

I can't bring this up on Samba because oil talk is pretty much forbidden.
I get it , everyone has an opinion and it becomes out of control.

I do know some use Brad Penn which is a racing oil and imagine it does not
have a real high detergent content , I imagine most all oil based racing
oils don't.

It seems many oil companies don't list this info and in this day and age of
modern cars most use synthetic oil which I feel is a very poor choice in an
air cooled VW and for one reason. A site I forget now who is an engine
builder talked about this very subject and said he did tests and yes the
case stays cooler with synthetic oil however the heads run much hotter ,
all I recall is it has something to do with they way a VW air cooled engine
design not much oil reaches the heads and for that reason it does not cool
fast enough. I have never done tests.
