Note that the end piece pictured there is wrong.  Pictured is a regular piece of braided vent hose, but it's supposed to be a special rubber fitting (311 201 169A for 1965-1967 -- earlier cars have a smaller diameter pipe and fitting), as pictured here: http://blef.org/vw/t3/311201169A.jpg

By the way, that piece is NOS and for sale if anyone nitpicky needs one.
