I was the one who shared the Volksbolts link back then.  I can report that their Codan hose has been holding up great on two cars (both carbed).  It wasn't cheap, but considering how quickly the OE style hose deteriorates, it currently seems like money well spent to me.  I'll report back in a few years and see if that still holds true.
