The D-jet sticky you're looking for is on the Samba.

Sounds like an interesting distributor if its quality.  BTW, have shoptalkforums changed?  I cant seem to find the Djet Sticky I was posting on before
And the engine forum doesn’t seem to have too many recent posts.

Actually there are several guys running the 123 distributor, as it uses electronic trigger points, along with settable advance rates for the different engines available (VW, Mercedes, Volvo, etc) that use a form of D or L jet injection. This distributor can be used with carbs as well. Just something to think about. Last I heard, Ray was looking into getting one himself, if not for anything but to look into the quality of it, and use on his own car.

I would go with a harmonic vibration that causes a connector issue. I know one fellow on the Samba site got this new distributor think it's the 123 so it does away with the trigger points and ign points and he said his 72 never ran better.

I went through everything on my 73 with the stock 1600 FI auto trans. I even pulled the control unit and cleaned the plug with contact cleaner and made certain the contacts were tight . I went one step further and sprayed contact cleaner on a rag and wiped the control units  contacts and was amazed how much oily like residue came off.

I was after a lean condition , even changed the runner boots and intake gaskets I got from Jim . I took apart the electric air bypass valve because it was sticking . Nothing changed a thing. The only fix was adjusting the MPS a bit richer in steps because the only way it would not run lean is if I disconnected the IAD temp sensor and even then it was not right, just better. All the fuel lines and vacuum lines I replaced mostly because they needed it. I even cleaned out the IAD and runners.

I would go with a harmonic vibration that causes a connector issue. I know one fellow on the Samba site got this new distributor think it's the 123 so it does away with the trigger points and ign points and he said his 72 never ran better.
