     The trick is that ambient temperatures, other than the extremes of the
desert radiating onto the roadway, of the air are cool to a VW engine.  If
not, you could not run a VW, Harley or early motorcycle anywhere at any
time but fall winter.
     If you are running full oil cooling and air cooling pieces to the VW
puzzle, oil and cylinder head temperatures will not vary much on the same
engine in 30F or 70F.
